EVALUATION Q6 AND Q7

question 6: what have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?  AND
Question 7: looking back at you primarily task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression to the full product.

well thinking back to when i first started using this i have learnt so much. This was the first ever time that i have ever used a apple mac properly let alone use the software that is on it.  In design was fairly easy to pick up after a while of playing around with it for a while. I can certainly say that i improved over time from when i was making my school magazine to my music magazine now. it was really just a process of trial and error, seeing what worked and what didn't. for example one week i thought i had finished all of my designing stage and was ready for my evaluation. however after doing a few peer assessments, people realized some faults that i hadn't actually realized myself. so then i went back to my  design and improved it and i must say i like my improved design much more than my old one.

if i look back it my skills audit that i filled out before i even started this course work i had said i have never used a mac before. So there has defiantly been a major positive difference from them to now. I would never thought i would of been able to make a magazine cover or even write a blog. you can defiantly see improvements throughout the process of my blog its obvious. you can just see from the colours, set up and layout of my music magazine that i have worked out how to used appropriate colours and codes and conventions.  its very interesting making this magazine

EVALUATION Q4 and Q5

question 5: how have i attracted my target audience:

In this i explain how my front cover attracts my target audience.

question 4: who would be the target audience for your media product?

This is a photo of my target audience:

basically my target audience is a young generation  boys and girls but boys i think would be the ones that really follow this magazine. as you can see from the styling of clothes they are not into rock music or metal music. The age target is about 16-20 year old's maybe even older. This target audience likes to dress well and go out on weekends. They consume the same media that any typical teenager that age would consume twitter and Facebook ect. ect.

EVALUATION Q3

I feel like IPC media company would be a suitable publisher for my media magazine. it may have some positives and negatives but more positives than negatives most defiantly.

With more than 60 media brands, IPC creates content for multiple platforms, across print, on line, mobile, tablets and events. They sell to 26 million UK adults, two thirds of UK women and over 40% of UK men. The International Publishing Corporation Ltd was formed in 1963.

The have a wide variety of magazines from such magazines like Country life style to NME .
The New Musical Express, popularly known by  NME  has been published weekly since 1952, it had originally started out as a news paper but made its way into a magazine format. it was the first British magazine to include a 'singles chart' in their layout.

why would IPC publish my magazine:

IPC's only publishes two music magazines and they are both really for the same kind of genre, They are more of a punk rock magazine. so my magazine would bring something completely different to the table, The style and Genre would contrast well with the other two magazines that they already have. It gives them more of a chance to expand their audience and attract new readers and buyers. There isn't really a magazine around in England which is like this, and it could be a big hit as this style music is very popular with the younger generation. There is also ways that you could adapt this magazine too. You could create websites, youtube channels and events which involve various rap artists. To be honest i think it would be a great way to introduce a new style of magazine into a very popular already magazine organisation and it would be a great way of horizontal integration for the company.

why IPC wouldn't publish:

There are some draw backs that could prevent IPC from publishing my magazine.
one could be the gamble of putting funds into a newly formed magazine, they may not feel that it will do well because this style hasn't been created before. It could be quite a big risk for such a popular magazine publishing company. Also they may just like the genre, it may not fit in with their style of publishing, as most of their magazine are for a upper class audience. Their music magazines are rock magazines as well, and that might just be the style of music they want to publish, they may not want to mix rock music with hip/hop and rap.

however you would never know unless you tried and this style of music is very popular at the moment and its more popular than rock music at this moment in time, so it could be time for a change and to bring something new into their business like my magazine.

MUSIC MAGAZINE FINAL DRAFT

Front Cov
er Final draft

contents page final draft

Double page spread Final Draft:

process off design ( FRONT COVER, CONTENTS, DOUBLE PAGE.)

my first stage off the design process was too take photos, to go with the genre off my magazine. I chose to use my friend Kieran because his style was exactly what my magazine is aiming at.

These were some off the photos that a i took off my friends to use on my contents page and double page spread, i had to do a bit of editing on them first though.  They all have a young urban effect towards them, and that is why i used my friends because they fitted that style.

FRONTCOVER:

first off all i wanted to created a logo for my magazine, that looked fresh but a little bit sophisticated too. i came up wit this.

i feel this stands out to the audience with the contrast of the red, white and black.

stage one of designing my front cover:

I have the picture ready in place, waiting for some cover lines and my magazine logo, i chose this picture because it reveals the urban kind of fresh style that i'm going for in my magazine. i like the colours of the graffiti as it will stand out to the reader.
you can also tell who the main character is as well because there is only one person in the shot.
he's leaning on the wall, with a sort of swagger about him the attitude that a rapper would have.

stage 2:

This piece here was originally my finished design for my front cover. I placed the cover lines as they were to make them look like ' sticker labels'. I like this layout because it looks like a scrap book, gives it more of an urban edge to it, showing the reader that it isn't like every other music magazine.

The main cover line is larger than all the others to show the reader that is the main story in the magazine. it also relates to the "rapper" that is in the picture.

overall i thought that this was a finished design until i had someone look at it, and they told me that i could improve it by using more space. This is because i did have some gaps on my front cover that can be filled by some more cover lines.

final cover:

As you can see i have made a few minor improvements, but they make a big difference in the layout of my magazine.
The first improvement i made was adding another 'cover line' to add more information to the page.

I have also made the main cover line bigger and bolder to make it stand out to the reader even more.

i feel that this was an improved better version of my original.

CONTENTS:
after taking my photo for my front cover i decided that i didn't really want to edit it because because i like the natural colours in the photo.

This is my first step of creating my contents page, as you can see i have a main image of my main artist, i have left a clear space for all off my writing to go down one side of the page for my contents

stage 2:
This stage have gathered a simple layout for my contents page, i have all the contents topics, with small descriptions underneath them. just enough for the reader to gather an interest.
i have stuck with simple black font because that is my colour theme.

stage 3-4
i have put these two stages together because i originally thought that the photo to the left was going to be my final design. I thought this was a nice layout for my contents page, with the colours and the writing.

however i was looking at contents pages online and i was looking at other contents pages, and i felt that my design could actually been improved and made much better so i started a re-design of my contents page.

This is my final contents page design
i have completely changed it, firstly i have changed the layout completely. I've added two new photos that i have previously taken of my friends which were rough photo ideas that i didn't chose. I also added a ' a competition time' section which adds more for the readers.  I've also changed the whole writing layout because i felt that the old one was too formal and boring, so i thought i would change it up a bit and i got a few inspirations from some websites.

double page spread:

stage one:

This it the start up idea for my double page spread. my idea was to do a interview for my character.
i placed the logo in the left hand corner because i was trying to relate it all with pieces of work.
i chose to place main character photo on the left and the leave the right for all of my questions and answers   which is my next stage.

 stage 2:

This is my second stage where I've done all the writing and added a photo of a group of my friends in the bottom right hand corner,  created all of my interview which is relevant to my topic,   but there was a space to fill in the top  so i improved  it a little bit for my last final draft.
