process off design ( FRONT COVER, CONTENTS, DOUBLE PAGE.)

my first stage off the design process was too take photos, to go with the genre off my magazine. I chose to use my friend Kieran because his style was exactly what my magazine is aiming at.

These were some off the photos that a i took off my friends to use on my contents page and double page spread, i had to do a bit of editing on them first though.  They all have a young urban effect towards them, and that is why i used my friends because they fitted that style.

FRONTCOVER:

first off all i wanted to created a logo for my magazine, that looked fresh but a little bit sophisticated too. i came up wit this.

i feel this stands out to the audience with the contrast of the red, white and black.

stage one of designing my front cover:

I have the picture ready in place, waiting for some cover lines and my magazine logo, i chose this picture because it reveals the urban kind of fresh style that i'm going for in my magazine. i like the colours of the graffiti as it will stand out to the reader.
you can also tell who the main character is as well because there is only one person in the shot.
he's leaning on the wall, with a sort of swagger about him the attitude that a rapper would have.

stage 2:

This piece here was originally my finished design for my front cover. I placed the cover lines as they were to make them look like ' sticker labels'. I like this layout because it looks like a scrap book, gives it more of an urban edge to it, showing the reader that it isn't like every other music magazine.

The main cover line is larger than all the others to show the reader that is the main story in the magazine. it also relates to the "rapper" that is in the picture.

overall i thought that this was a finished design until i had someone look at it, and they told me that i could improve it by using more space. This is because i did have some gaps on my front cover that can be filled by some more cover lines.

final cover:

As you can see i have made a few minor improvements, but they make a big difference in the layout of my magazine.
The first improvement i made was adding another 'cover line' to add more information to the page.

I have also made the main cover line bigger and bolder to make it stand out to the reader even more.

i feel that this was an improved better version of my original.

CONTENTS:
after taking my photo for my front cover i decided that i didn't really want to edit it because because i like the natural colours in the photo.

This is my first step of creating my contents page, as you can see i have a main image of my main artist, i have left a clear space for all off my writing to go down one side of the page for my contents

stage 2:
This stage have gathered a simple layout for my contents page, i have all the contents topics, with small descriptions underneath them. just enough for the reader to gather an interest.
i have stuck with simple black font because that is my colour theme.

stage 3-4
i have put these two stages together because i originally thought that the photo to the left was going to be my final design. I thought this was a nice layout for my contents page, with the colours and the writing.

however i was looking at contents pages online and i was looking at other contents pages, and i felt that my design could actually been improved and made much better so i started a re-design of my contents page.

This is my final contents page design
i have completely changed it, firstly i have changed the layout completely. I've added two new photos that i have previously taken of my friends which were rough photo ideas that i didn't chose. I also added a ' a competition time' section which adds more for the readers.  I've also changed the whole writing layout because i felt that the old one was too formal and boring, so i thought i would change it up a bit and i got a few inspirations from some websites.

double page spread:

stage one:

This it the start up idea for my double page spread. my idea was to do a interview for my character.
i placed the logo in the left hand corner because i was trying to relate it all with pieces of work.
i chose to place main character photo on the left and the leave the right for all of my questions and answers   which is my next stage.

 stage 2:

This is my second stage where I've done all the writing and added a photo of a group of my friends in the bottom right hand corner,  created all of my interview which is relevant to my topic,   but there was a space to fill in the top  so i improved  it a little bit for my last final draft.
